Dido’s father, William Armstrong, almost died after being admitted to the Middlesex Hospital with severe lupus which lead to septicaemia and liver failure. He spent 5 months in intensive care before going on to make a remarkable recovery.

The doctor described him as “one of the most severely ill people I have known to have survived."
