Paralympic Equestrian Dale Dedrick was diagnosed with Lupus during her time at the University of Michigan causing her multiple joint deformities, muscle weakness of an inflammatory nature, and significant heart disease. She retired in 1992 as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Internal Medicine.

Dale took part in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
